Parades are always fun and who doesn’t love a parade? St. George’s loves parades and we will be marching in the Greenbelt Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 5, 2016, starting at 10:00 AM. We’re registered, we have our truck, soon we will have our giveaways, but we need you to be there!
The route itself is a 1.5 mile route up Crescent Road starting from near Buddy Attick Park and ending at the Roosevelt Center. We will have our bouncy balls and pin-wheels available to hand out to the crowds, and I am crossing my fingers for cooler weather but at least the parade route has lots of shade.
Once we reach the end you’re right there at the festival where you can hop on carnival rides, enjoy great food, check out the book sale, or listen to live music. So mark your calendars and come on out on what should be a beautiful September morning to show your St. George’s pride (wear your T-shirt!) to the community of Greenbelt and beyond.
Bring some comfy shoes and wear your St. Georges T-shirt if you have one. If you have any questions, please speak with Michael Mangiapane.

February 6 is practically around the corner and St. George‘s needs you to participate in our annual Mardi Gras Party! There are several things you can do to help with this annual St. George’s event. The most important thing to do is to attend the party and silent auction from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturday night, February 6, 2016.
The next most important thing is to invite others to come; this is a great event to ask friends, family, or neighbors to attend. Also, and something you can do in conjunction with attending the event, consider donating items for the auction or asking others to donate.
Finally, you can volunteer to help with decorating and set up, clean up, or the auction itself. Helping out is a great way to get involved and enjoy yourself too!
DONATE FOR OUR SILENT AUCTION!
It’s one of our favorite events at St. Georges, the “Make Your Own Pizza” party!
Stop by on Sunday, January 31, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM and bring your family and friends to Miller Hall where we will provide the dough and pizza ingredients. You put the toppings you want on the pizza, and we will bake it for you.
It’s an easy way to have dinner that night plus time to hang out with friends. If anyone would like to learn how to make pizza dough, our resident pizza expert will be on hand to teach folks how to make it starting around 3:30 PM. The recipe is simple and it can be a fun activity for the kids to learn.
If you have a pizza pan (or shallow baking pan) that we can borrow for the evening, please bring it as the more we have, the faster we can get pizzas out to everyone. We will also have the basic ingredients such as pepperoni, green peppers, and cheese, but if there’s a special ingredient you love on pizza, bring it with you and throw it on your pie.
Hope to see you on the 31st!
Once again St. Georgians and friends are invited to celebrate together in Miller Hall on New Year’s Eve. Bring a favorite snack and non-alcoholic beverage to share. Bring a favorite game to share, whether it is cards, board games, riddles, etc. Finally, bring a friend along to join the fun! The festivities will start at 8:00 PM but you can come anytime to ring in 2016. First Night at St. George’s is a safe and family friendly alternative to your average New Year’s Eve party and the perfect opportunity for fellowship and fun with our members.
