Our commitment to outreach is brought to life for a week each winter as we host the Safe Haven shelter for men. Under the umbrella of Safe Haven, a non-profit organization, we open our doors to those who have no place to sleep during cold winter nights. The experience is meaningful for everyone who participates, and the opportunity to spend time getting to know our visitors is a special part of the week. We all pull together to create a welcoming place for our visitors; the work of more than 30 volunteers is needed. Volunteers set up, prepare and serve food, greet participants, and stay overnight to be sure all goes well. Other parishioners donate money and supplies. We’ve been blessed by the help of other community groups including scout troops and other church communities. Extra hands and hearts are always needed for this rewarding ministry, so let the church office know if you want to be included as a volunteer.
