St. George’s is known as a welcoming community for everyone and has been a safe worship space for LGBT people for many years. Our parish is a lively and loving mix of people and our LGBT members are a vital part of our loving community. We mean it when we say “Join us around a table where ALL are welcome.”

St. George’s feels a special call to support our brothers and sisters who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and we live that commitment through a number of outreach activities. Members of the community have lobbied Maryland State legislators for expansion of marriage to same sex couples, employment protection, and transgender rights, and they continue to make their presence known as new issues arise affecting LGBT people.

Our parish visibly affirms our commitment to LGBT people when we gather to march in the DC Pride parade each summer. In our rainbow of t-shirts, straight and gay we live our faith and our belief in the dignity of all as we march as a church community behind the St. George’s banner.
