Maundy Thursday Watch April 18/19
“Could you not watch with me one hour?” This is Jesus’ question to the disciples, when he goes off to pray in the garden before his arrest. You are invited to sign up for an hour to come and watch and pray, in the Chapel during the night of Maundy Thursday starting at 10 pm and ending at 7 am on Good Friday.
Good Friday – 12 noon and 7:30 pm April 19
The Good Friday service features the reading the Passion according to John as we celebrate the solemn liturgy and are witnesses to Jesus’ crucifixion. The 7:30 p.m. service also features the reading of the Passion from John interspersed with poetry and music. Flowers and Preparing the Space Saturday, April 20 9:00 am/10:00 am
Holy Saturday is a day of preparation, and we one way observe this day is by preparing the space and decorating the church for Easter – putting the chairs in place, setting the altar, getting the flowers together. Please come and lend a hand! If you can help with setting the sanctuary, please come at 9:00 am. If you can help with flowers, please come at 10:00 am.
Eggstravaganza Saturday April 20 at 10:00 am
Our preparation also includes decorating the eggs to be used in the Easter egg hunt on Sunday. This is an intergenerational event, and all children and adults are invited to participate. Lunch is served after the eggs are dyed!
The Great Vigil of Easter – 8:30 pm Saturday, April 20
In this most sacred service of the year, we kindle new fire, hear the story of our salvation history, renew our baptismal vows, and celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter as we at last celebrate the resurrection. Bring food to share for a reception to begin our Easter celebration following the service.
Easter Sunday Services – 8 and 10 am April 21
The celebration of Christ’s resurrection will continue on Easter Sunday, with great joy that the powers of death have been defeated and that God’s love has once again emerged victorious. Come and celebrate in prayer, singing, and the joyful return of the kids’ instruments and our alleluias. Each service is followed by an Easter Egg Hunt!
