Instructed Eucharist Next Sunday February 10

Sunday, February 10 we continue with our preaching series on The Way of Love:  Seven Practices for a Jesus-Centered Life.  This week’s practice will be Worship, and we will offer an Instructed Eucharist at both the 8:00 and 10:00 services.  What that means is that the liturgy is narrated, or in other words explained as we move through the service.  It is an opportunity for learning more of the whats and whys behind the prayers and pattern of our Sunday service.

Pajama Collection

Emily Charlton continues to spearhead the pajama collection, for the Casey Cares Foundation, as she works toward her Girl Scout Silver Award.  The drive is going on now and will go until April 16th.  The goal is to collect 200 pairs of pajamas — new, 2-piece pajamas in sizes from infant to adult. (There is a greater need for boy’s pajamas at the moment).  If you can find it in your heart and wallet to donate a pair or two of pajamas to this effort, it would be most appreciated.  There will be a box in the Narthex.  Thank you for your generosity.

9:00 am Service followed by Annual Meeting February 3

St. George’s will hold our Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 3rd following the one 9:00 am service that day.  At the meeting we do the business of the church, say farewell to outgoing vestry members, and elect a new vestry.  There are several openings on the vestry and we are looking for people who would like to serve St. George’s in a leadership role and help the parish discern and live out God’s mission.  You must be a confirmed Episcopalian to serve on the vestry. Also, now that we have been awarded a second delegate to represent St. George’s at the annual Diocesan Convention, we are need of people who would like to run as delegate or alternate delegate. These are each two-year terms.   Speak to Dan Ryan or Connie+ if you are interested in serving St. George’s in this capacity.

Pajama Collection

Emily Charlton is working toward her Girl Scout Silver Award; the second highest award a Girl Scout can earn.  Her project is to coordinate the collection effort for pajamas for the Casey Cares Foundation.  This foundation arranges outings and activities for families of critically ill children.  These children spend lots of time in hospitals, so the foundation has launched its Kami’s Jammies drive to collect pajamas for the kids. Emily is spearheading the effort at her school, with her Girl Scout troop, and here at St. George’s.
