ECQ book group meets Tuesday, October 24thYou are invited to join the ECQ Book Group — a fellowship of St. George’s members (and others) who meet to explore, converse, and question the intersections between lived faith and the modern world.
In October as we meet to discuss David Steindle-Rast, Essential Writings, edited by C. Hallward. The author is a Benedictine monk who has written extensively on finding the sacred in everyday life. This book gathers essays from his work and will allow us an introduction to his spiritual approach.
Looking forward, our book selections for November is: American Requiem by James Carrol. This book is a memoir about a young man’s early priesthood and the conflicts that developed concerning the Vietnam War between him and his father, a career military man.
December- The Chosen by Chaim Potok. This is a novel about the coming of age of two young Jewish men in New York in the aftermath of war and the Holocaust.
January– God’s Hotel, a Doctor, a Hospital and a Pilgrimage to the Heart of Medicine, by Victoria Sweet. It’s a memoir about a doctor’s spiritual journey practicing medicine in a San Fransico hospital.
