Each year the first Sunday in February St. George’s holds our annual ‘state of the parish’ meeting, elects new vestry members, says thank you to outgoing vestry, and reflects on the life of the parish over the past year. This year’s meeting is on Sunday, February 1. We will have one worship service at 9:00 am that day, with the annual meeting immediately following the service. Please plan to attend and participate in the church’s democratic process. If you would like to know if you are eligible to vote at the annual meeting, please check with the rector, who keeps the official list.
It’s one of our favorite events at St. George’s, the “Make Your Own Pizza” party! Stop by on Sunday, January 25, from 4:30PM-7:30PM and bring your family and friends to Miller Hall where we will provide the dough and pizza ingredients. You put the toppings you want on the pizza, and we will bake it for you. If anyone would like to learn how to make pizza dough, Michael Mangiapane will be on hand to teach folks starting around 3:00PM. If you have a pizza pan (or shallow baking pan) that we can borrow for the evening, please bring it as the more we have, the faster we can get pizzas out to everyone. We will also have the basic ingredients everyone loves such as pepperoni, sausage, and cheese, but if there’s a special ingredient you love on pizza, bring it with you and throw it on your pie. Hope to see you on the 25th!
You are invited to come at 7pm on Thursday, January 22 to see pictures and hear stories of Connie’s trip to Israel. Dessert and coffee will be served and there will be the opportunity to ask questions and share fellowship.
Please join us for a meeting of the Outreach committee January 18 after the 10 am service. We’ll be discussing plans for Lenten outreach, Help-by-Phone volunteer activities and Safe Haven.
Confirmation is the process by which one formally becomes an Episcopalian, and how one affirms the promises made by one’s parents and godparents at baptism. Any adult or teenager in high school is invited to the informational meeting on January 11. If you are interested in becoming an Episcopalian, if you want to renew your commitment to your faith and church, or if you have any questions, please speak with Connie+. The day and time of class will be determined by this year’s participants in consultation with the rector. Class will begin in January and finishes with the service of Confirmation at the National Cathedral mid-May.
The 2015 Confirmation Class is in the process of forming. We will have a meeting of anyone interested in Confirmation on Sunday, January 11 following the 10:00AM service.
Please note, there will be a Wednesday service on January 7 at 7:00PM in the chapel.
